Recreation

One of my experimentations will be based on the artist/photographer Don McCullin as he manages to add photojournalism and documentary into his photographs to make a powerful photograph, I want to take these techniques into my images as I want to have a story behind the conflicting image or images I will use for my final piece, this will help as my theme is conflict. Don McCullin helps relate to my theme as he took a project on war photography and the conflict in violence and the peace, this really caught my eye on which photographer to base my recreation round.

I have decided to experiment with Don McCullin's work and style as McCullin represents his work in a specific style, the photographs taken on a film camera and straight into monochrome, I love working in black and white as it makes any image powerful as if it has created a whole new meaning and story behind it.

Recreations

My idea for a conflicting image in my recreations would be to take photographs of every friend of my parents and family member that we're involved during my parents divorce, this was my first situation and sighting of conflict. I have decided to do this as it really hits home and is a part of my heart that will never be replaced or an image I will never forget. The situation was far from calm and collected, the situation was violent and extremely upsetting for all of us. As much as I can remember at the young age it was a lot to deal with and see my parents going through. I was sent to my next door neighbours house while my parents were arguing, shortly after the police arrived and made the situation a lot more disturbing and hard. This allows me to take photos of my next door neighbours, my parents, and the police or a police car.

I will take photographs of each family member from all angles and lay them over each other for a really distorted and uncomfortable image for my final piece. I will be able to put them all next to each other, I will name this piece 'My Childhood Broken Into Two' I will name it this as my heart has been broken into two, having to share my love two my parents separately instead of together, it has also made my childhood broken as it was the only time my life has every truly changed completely, however; I wouldn't be the person I was today if things like this didn't happen.
